VINEYARD

Located on Moppa Hill, the vineyard is between 330m and 340m and is among the highest of the Western Ridge. An easterly facing aspect provides early morning sunlight and shade from the late afternoon heat. Additionally it benefits from slightly cooler evenings than the majority of the Northern Barossa subregions.

Planted in 1996 with Shiraz, clone 1654. The soil is comprised of a free draining sandy topsoil layer with conglomerates of ironstone and quartz throughout the subsoil.

The fruit tends to be tightly structured and elegant, but with powerful flavours.

Since acquiring the property in 2018, it has been farmed sustainably with low inputs and organic principles.

WINEMAKING

In keeping with the growing principles, the vinification employs a minimal intervention philosophy. The goal is to craft a wine which reflects the vineyard in the growing season.

The vineyard is picked in various stages and batches are kept seperate until blending. Whole berry fermentation occurs naturally in small one tonne vessels and pressing in done gently with a basket press.

Only seasoned French oak is used.

All winemaking takes place in a 100% off grid solar powered winery.
